went to feed my ladies this morning and was greeted by a sweet little reward, our first egg wasn't expecting it until next month when they are 6 months old. I don't know which of the 15 laid it and now that one is laying how do I go about feeding the laying pellet feed?

Personally, I would either put them all on layers food, or continue with your growers / general flock food and offer oyster shell in a separate container - so those that are laying can access additional calcium. The latter approach is particularly good when you have a flock of mixed age (or plan to, in the future).

I don't feed layer feeds. You should put out a separate bowl of oyster shells. They will consume them as the need them and they won't eat much. I either keep mine on a non medicated grower or switch to an all flock ration. They have a higher protein content and most backyard flocks do better on them due to the extras they often are fed.
