That sounds like a fun flock! They do make a noise after they lay. I think it's supposed to draw predators away from the eggs and some of them tell the world more about it than others! My Buff Orpingtons really liked to put on a show about it.

My new batch is a variety, too and it's so fun already!

It's the best when you walk into the coop right after the egg was layed, and the egg is still warm. I love it! It's already happened to me twice and today is only the third day of them laying!

Part of the crew their 1st week-Brown Leghorns, Australorps, Easter Eggers, Dominiques, and Salmon Faverolles. Plus, I have a flock of game bantams our mama hens hatched out in May.
