First Egg!!

My Silkie just laid her first egg today (I don’t know if it’s her first ever, but it’s her first with me and my first with my own flock!). I’m so excited!!! I just don’t know if she is going to sit on it. Seems she hasn’t been back to it since laying it. How long should I wait to see if she is going to? Or should I bring it in and go get an incubator?

Hahaa... it’s safe to assume there is a rooster somewhere! Thank you... It is so exciting!!! I’m trying to talk hubby into getting me an incubator!

She isn't going to sit on it unless she is broody and if she is laying then she isn't broody.

Thank you all! Our excitement was short lived. We brought the egg in to store until we got an incubator... we’ll my son wanted to “check on” the egg... and broke it. Poor boy was devastated because he was just as excited as we were!! I couldn’t be mad at him She’ll lay another egg!

Yes... it does. I’m sure I’ll lose a lot more and it will be sad... but that’s how this goes! I’ve lost a total of 10 chicks so far since starting my flock. It’s always sad
