Very normal. Congrats on the first egg!

When mine started laying, they went several days without laying an egg before they got into a routine. Don't be surprised to find a few soft shelled eggs either. Mine laid several soft shell in between regular eggs at first.

Okay thank you so much! We did have a roo but no longer do. I gave the little egg back to her but I dont think she cares about it.

I would take the egg out. She may end up pecking at it (or another chicken might if you have others), which could start them on egg eating. Mine eat the soft shell eggs if they lay them overnight, but so far haven't eaten the hard ones.

Okay It's been 2 days should I keep it or throw it out? The shell is hard
Might want to throw it out if it has been hot or humid. A good check to see if the egg is safe to eat is putting it in a sink full of water, and if it sinks it is good to eat and if it floats, get that thing out before it cracks!!!

I am not an expert on how long the eggs are good for, so maybe someone else will chime in. Personally, I probably wouldn't keep it, especially if it is hot right now, but a lot of people don't refrigerate their fresh eggs. If you haven't washed it, the bloom is probably still on it, protecting it from bacteria.

:welcome :frow The first eggs will be small (pullet eggs) as they lay they will get larger. At first while they are working out the laying kinks, you may not get an egg every day. Be patient. Some breeds are better layers than others and new layers may be irregular at first. Good luck and have fun...
