Hi! We have 10 chickens who just turned 30 weeks old. All but our Buff Brahma and Favaucana have been laying for quite some time now. Two of my sons whom these chickens belong to are dying for them to lay eggs! Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Claire

You can add a few hours of light to the coop in the morning. Better to increment it gradually.
We're about 3 1/2 months after summer solstice. Declining day length in relation to dark period is a signal to most animals not to reproduce. On the other hand, increasing day length signals a hormonal change to rejuvenate the gonads and kick start production.

Where I live, day length is already 4 1/2 hours shorter than it was at summer solstice.
Depending on where you live, for instance in the northern tier of states, you have now lost over 5 hours of light per day since June 21. Where are you located?
In a month and a half days will start getting longer.
