Had a small crack in it but we are so excited! We have 8 red sex-link hens and the first egg came at 1 day short of 18 weeks. The heat here in Arizona has been brutal but they have been tough and fought through it. Can’t wait for the rest of them now. These forums are the best. So much good information and knowledge.

My red sex link turned 17 weeks on Friday. She is getting very close to the point of lay.she is showing signs like squatting, checking out the nesting boxes, and her comb color is deepening. Hope I will be able to post a thread like this in a week or two. Nice looking egg.

Taadah!!! Very Egg-citing!!!

Just an update - we are now getting 7-8 eggs a day from our 8 hens. Right at about the 21-week mark. Its pretty awesome.

Very fun. My four hens are now reliably laying 4 large eggs/day. There are only 2 of us so that is plenty and usually there are one or two left over for our dogs. What are you doing with more than 4 dozen eggs/week?? Does your family eat that many without getting sick of them? Do you plan to sell or give away any?
