First egg!!!

We got our very first egg this morning. Not sure who produced it but suspect it was Maple, our RIR. She laid it in one of their nesting boxes just like we had asked them to do

This is the little beauty, she is 20 weeks and has the biggest reddest comb and wattles among the hens

I know that feeling! I still feel the sense of a "gift" every time I find an egg. I do remember "the first egg" and the wonder of it all working after all the insecurity and bumbling, trying to get This chicken thing right.

I found my first egg two weeks ago today. It is still so exciting to go check to see what might be there. I hope it never gets old.

Stillplaysindirt, yes, each egg is such a lovely gift. Especially since they have been eating Japanese beetles that I catch for them. Beetles in, egg out.
