First egg!!

My 18 1/2 week old BO laid her first egg!!
There is white powder surrounding it is that alright?
Also how do i get her to lay in the nesting box?

Congratulations to your pullet on her first egg! Hens like to lay where there are already other eggs, so you could try putting some fake eggs (ex. golf balls) in the nest box.

You can try adding fake eggs into the nesting box, that has worked for some of my pullets. I only have 2/6 that will actually use my nesting boxes the others lay under the raised boxes.

Looks like a normal egg to me. When my girls are close to point of lay, i dont let them out of the coop to free range until the evening. I leave other eggs in there to collect in the evening, i also randomly place them in the nesting box. Even if they jump out immediately they become nosey and will start to check it out.

Congrats on your first egg!
The powder is normal. That called the bloom. It is a natural antibacterial coating on the egg.
You can put some golf balls in the nest boxes to encourage them to lay there.

I found my first egg on the coop floor, the next day I put a nest box in their with two fake eggs and that's where they have been laying ever since. They've lost the fake eggs already so...
