First egg

One of 4 Easter eggers laid the first egg. A beautiful blue egg. So excited!
Her name is Mario and she was trying to lay her first egg for 2 hours this morning.
I saw her going into the nesting box from the coop camera.
They did not play around the nesting boxes at all so I knew it's time.
I hope other girls would lay eggs in different colors.

I prayed mine would lay blue because I already have an Olive egger that lays green. And mine did lay blue!! I was very excited!

She is 26 weeks old. Her egg is still very small. I guess she needs to grow more.

Congratulations! The 1st egg from a hen is always exciting!! I have had chickens for 11 years, and still get excited about the first egg from a young hen

Congratulations to you and Mario! First eggs are ALWAYS amazing, but isn't it great when an Easter egger produces one of the colorful eggs that we are hoping for when we get those chicks?

Nice photo, too. I'm not sure I can decipher her expression correctly: Is she surprised that you are holding her egg hostage? Or, is she thinking, "Gee, Dad, it's just an egg. There's more to come."

Exactly that is why I got EEs.
I was going to get two chicks originally but the store did not allow to buy less than 4 chicks. I am glad we got 4. EEs are so friendly and I think they are happier with more friends.
