@ShotgunDog I have 9 RIR pullets and was where you are about a year ago. I still have the picture of my girls first egg. Mine didn't start laying till about 26 weeks. I got lots of big double yolkers and a few small ones too starting out. Also the occasional oops eggs on the poop tray overnight. Fast forward a year later and I get anywhere from 7 to 9 eggs a day. But finding this first one was just like you said - like Christmas morning!Happy Day! Congratulations on your first egg! I have 10 RIR pullets that are 16 weeks old and I think I might be like a kid on Christmas morning when I discover my first one. For those who have blown them out, are you able to re-fill it with another substance (like via syringe or something)? If so, what do you use? If not, is there anything you can do to make the shell less fragile?
