After eight long months my splash Cochin decided to lay an egg!

Took forever for the wattles and comb to come in. How long after laying does this breed go broody? I heard that they are good moms.

Congratulations on the first egg!!

Broodiness depends on bird to bird. (Just because a breed is known to go broody, it doesn't mean that every hen in the breed that'll brood. ;) ) I've had some hens start broody as early as 4-5 months and others start later in life.
