Do you mix the oyster shells in with their food?

Like @TooCheep said, offer it on the side rather than mixed in with the feed. They are generally pretty good at self-regulating how much calcium they need.

They have now laid an egg each, or more! Today I finally have time to pick up better bedding, oyster shells, and all flock for my babies. I am so excited.
Also, my australorps apparently purr when they are laying.

Were you able to get them calcium? That might be from thin shells.

I am SO excited one of my australorps finally laid an egg!
I feel bad since they are still on chick crumble due to budget and All Flock being harder to find where I live. I am going to switch them over as soon as I can find a bag and supplement with some form of calcium (oyster shells are also real hard to find)

Not yet, heading into town this evening. Maybe! She was having a harder time than I expected this morning laying. Hoping the oyster shells and bedding will help!
