Finally, we got our FIRST. EVER. EGG (s)!
Today I came into my chicken coop to find 2 pullet eggs next to the fake egg I put a few days ago!
Of course, the chicken just HAD to lay the first egg on the ONE day I didn't check for an egg, which was yesterday.
I never heard an egg song, how dare they. I am still unsure who is laying, but I believe it is my 18 1/2 week old Light Brahma. She's been squatting for 2 weeks and I've seen her check out the nest boxes. But I think it's strange that a Brahma is laying at 18 weeks.
The 2 eggs are very slightly different colors and the same shape and weight. Could it be 2 different hens on the same day? I literally screamed in excitement and dropped the darker egg
.
The pic with 2 eggs cracked next to eachother is the darker egg compared to a grocery store white cage free egg. Does my egg look fertilized to you? I flipped the yolk so that the dot is on top. It doesn't look like a bullseye but it has a pretty big white dot on it.
I cooked all 3 eggs. I added salt and garlic powder and fried it with the lid on to steam the top. They all turned out not looking too pretty. One flipped onto the plate and that gave it a little smile
. They tasted amazing, but not too different from the grocery store. They were all creamy and amazing even though I usually hate eggs.
Anyway, you bet I'll be sitting in the coop stalking them for 4 hours tomorrow until I see who it is!!!! I need to know! Thank you for reading my thread and I love that I got to share my first eggs with you guys! If you have any questions about my experience, ask me!
