Hi all -
I'm new to the forum and blogging...as well as new to chicken raising. We have 12 chickens that are 1 year old (6 Isa Browns, 6 Barred Rocks), a bantam rooster of some variety that is about 6 months old, a Rhode Island Red hen that is about 5 months old and a Buff Orpington of the same age.
Reba (Rhode Island) and Dolly (Buff Orpington) came into our family together as fluffy little pullets...at least we hoped they were pullets.
My hubby and I have been having a family dispute for about 2 weeks now over whether our beautiful Dolly is really (heaven forbid!) Donny. I have remained faithful to my belief that this fluffy, sweet dispositioned, talkative, dog loving chicken is a hen.
Today she PROVED it by laying her first egg.
WAHOO! I will have to post some pictures.
Thanks for listening and thanks to all of you for posting pics and notes about your orpingtons!
