I was so excited to find my first egg today from Rene my Cookoo Maran (5 months to the day of her hatch date). Now I'm just waiting for Rochelle (my Barred Rock) to jump on the "egg carton parade." Until then, I have a couple of questions about this new phase in our lives.

1. The egg is so small (i've attached a photo next to a half dollar), is this standard?
2. Do the eggs get larger with each one laid?
3. Other that switching her on "egg layer" food, should I make any other changes to her diet? They also get various greens, melons, cucumbers, veggies, etc..

Thank you in advance for your help.

Congrats on the first egg! Its always so exciting to see the first one isnt it )
The eggs WILL get bigger as she lays more.
In addition to Layer Ration they will need additional calciun- oyster shell or milk to drink.

Yes, it's normal for them to start out that small. Yes, they will gradually get bigger over time. Oyster shell on the side for strong egg shells.

Congrats on the egg!
