One of my three girls laid her first egg today! I'm pretty sure it was Mabel, my barred rock, her waddle and comb are very red and bigger than my two RIR's.
I put a fake egg in each of the two nests yesterday and went out to look a few minutes ago. I did a double-take when I saw two eggs in on nest. I had to tap it with my finger nail to be sure, LOL! I came inside squealing and laughing, showed my husband and we were hugging like we were brand new parents.
I called my Mom in Florida to tell her that her grandchicken laid an egg and my uncles and my cousins! Plus I posted on FB.
I know I'm a crazy chicken lady now!
It's about medium size.Yay!
