First egg!

Just got home and put the birds to bed and found our first egg! Gotta say, pretty excited! The egg seemed a little small. How big of an egg do Plymouth Barred Rocks lay? At any rate, seeing the fruits of our labor is pretty awesome!

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on that first egg, may there be many more to come! My BRs usually laid a medium to large egg eventually, Pullet eggs will start out smaller and gradually get larger as they continue laying over the next couple of months, with the exception of a double egg that might show up occasionally.

Don't worry about egg size. You'll get all kinds of interesting eggs in the first couple of months. Congratulations!

I so remember my first egg, my girl Sunflower was walking by me, squatted, laid an egg, then looked at me like 'wth' was that?!?
