First Egg!!!!

Yesterday my RSL's were 14 weeks old. Guess what? I found an egg!!! Do I still give them grower/finisher mix? We are so eggcited! Ha ha

How egg-citing!!

You will need to get them on layer feed. If all your birds are the same age, get them all on it. Pick up some oystershell at the feed store too and keep it in a separate bowl or feeder so they can nibble on it if they need more calcium

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on that first egg! If you still have some bags of grower you can keep feeding them that or mix it with Layer ... just have the oyster shell on the side like TwoCrows suggested ... for a few weeks especially since they are still pretty young.

I found my first egg today too!! Mine are almost 17 weeks old. I have been feeding them grower/finisher feed...and just bought 3 bags of it last week and have 2 bags left! I wasn't planning on them laying till they were 22 weeks...so what do I do now?

Welcome to BYC. That girl is an early maturing individual. I would start with a mixture of grower/layer gradually increasing the % of layer feed until all of your grower feed has been utilized.

Welcome and Congrats! Switch them to layer feed. you can mix what you have left of the grower in so it does not go to waste.
