First eggs ever!

I just joined this weekend and was asking when to uncover the nest boxes. Everyone said do it now - and they were right!

We missed 2 - discovered them in front of the nest boxes - so got them uncovered and the ceramic eggs in.

Look what I found today - right in the nest box where it belongs

Congrats! I will never forget how excited I was to find that first egg! I had such a sense of accomplishment to bring them from tiny fluffy balls to have them actually lay an egg! It was amazing! I still love going out to the coop to see how many they laid. Never gets old!

Good news! I'm having way too much fun with the hens. Should have started years ago. It is never too late.

They are fun! So quirky and silly. We are having a great time with them.

We never before had chickens. My girls are tickled to no end. They bring their friends over to chicken watch. TOO FUNNY! Hold one, put it down, hold another. Feed one, then the whole herd runs over. "whatcha got? I want it."

BTW my girls are now 20 and 22. Wow, I'm old.
