I am starting to get first eggs from my 11 March chicks. Prairie Dawn (a prairie bluebell) is the confirmed layer of the blue pullet egg. I have a new olive egg that's gorgeous 🄰. But I have 3 olive eggers whose combs all look similarly red, and I think I may be getting a new brown egg as well. (I have 3 older hens who lay brown, but some recently have been smaller.) I'm really hoping one of the olive eggers is not laying brown.

Join me as I chicken stalk my flock today. And show me your first eggs too?

The small blue and the olive are my two new ones!

What a beautiful carton of eggs!

I am extremely talented at having hens who do not lay the egg colors I hope for. ONE of my two Easter Eggers lays a green egg; the other girl's eggs are a light beige, like many of my other girls. And, my Olive Egger lays a completely ordinary beige egg.

I am, however, lucky to have a Midnight Majesty Marans that lays a pretty dark egg, and a Prairie Bluebell whose eggs are lovely but are becoming fewer as she ages.

My new chicks include a pair of Ameraucanas that I don't expect will produce pretty blue eggs until next spring. They're only seven weeks old.

Again, congrats on your pretty ones! And, good luck with your stalking!

Ahhhhhh!! I just love colored eggs!! Yours are so beautiful!!

I currently have 7 hens that all lay light brown/cream eggs, BUT I also have 9 pullets that will be giving me colored eggs soon-ish (they are 11.5 weeks):

2 Noir Marans
3 Olive Eggers
2 CCL
1 White Leghorn (it'll be cool to add white eggs, too :))
1 Blue Rock (this will be a cream egg, but I'm ok with it)

I also have some on order that will be hatching 8/26, and a few of those will add some colors as well (Bantam Splash Ameraucanas, Bantam Green Queen, Bantam Mottled Cochins, and Bielefelders)! šŸ¤—

Over the last week, I am getting at least two, maybe 3 shades of new green eggs. I think I know who's doing it. But I haven't seen any of these girls actually lay an egg.

The Suspects:

Olive. (Olive Egger) Goes in and out of nests and sits for a while, but keeps getting kicked out of the favorite nest by older hens.

Bean. (Olive's sister, another olive egger) Cackling and singing the egg song today. Currently in a nest. Today is the first time I've seen her sit.

Easter (an EE). Going in and out of the coop and singing the egg song, but I haven't seen her near a nest yet.

Onyx. (Onyx olive egger). Keeps standing in the doorway and going in and out of the coop this morning, but not singing or going to the nest.

These are the ones I think I've figured out so far. The four smallest are all new layers.

They lay like this, which is why I'm having so much trouble watching them:

There's four hens in there. Bean, Grey, Posie, and Olive. I have 5 nest boxes, and they like this basket best. Sillies.

Such cuties! They're all adorable but Easter is just too stinking cute! What can I say? I'm a sucker for bearded birds :3

All the greens and blues. I'm so tickled. My last olive egger died and the three after that ALL layed brown eggs (store bin mixup), so I haven't had any olives or greens in years. And I've never had one lay that nice mint color. I think Onyx hasn't contributed yet.
