We got our first egg yesterday and second today and they were both beautiful! Super exciting! Ever since- my flock of 5 girls roost on top of the coop at night, not going in. They go in and out of the coop during the day but could this be because of the new egg laying?

Thank you for reading!

Hello- thank you for replying! It is, yes. We plan on building a large coop in the spring.. this one is just holding us over until then. They had no problems with it before but I’m wondering if they’re not comfortable in it now that they’re laying.

Try raising the roosts higher up, their instinct is to be high off the ground and away from nests.
since most prefabs have roosts a few inches off the floor, next to the next boxes, they want to be up now that they know what they're for.

That makes sense! Thank you so much for the suggestion. :)
