First eggs...on henhouse floor..???

anything round and about the size of anysize egg should do the trick, old ping pong ball, kids toy, etc. doesn't have to be egg shaped

Great idea! I'll have to see if we have any toy plastic eggs. We don't sports here so no golf/ ping pong balls.

I have several boxes, but this particular box is behind the can where their feed is kept. For some reason they liked that spot on the floor as opposed to the boxes I made for them so I bought a box and put in there. I need to get some fake eggs still, but I just keep tossing straw back into the box after I collect their eggs. I've noticed chicken sized indentations in the other boxes they just aren't laying eggs there.
Simpler is blick access to the area in question and up your game in training to the intended nest boxes. Birds seem to be seeking privacy, are your boxes built with that in mind?

No, I did block in the sides more, but they way they sit the sunshine comes right in the door. I was thinking about putting curtains up, but that's a this weekend project.

Today one of my girls pulled their corner box out and laid an egg behind it and it appears also pecked it. This egg was much darker than any of the others we had before so I think this was a new girl laying. I'm going to screw the box into place tonight to keep them from pulling it out. I'm going to put an egg lure in one of the other boxes tonight and see what happens tomorrow.
