first eggs question

Started collecting my first eggs and they are way bigger then I thought!

And when I cracked one open....

Haha that's right 2 eggs and 6 yolks!
But for the last 3 weeks the eggs are getting smaller, less shell, and some shell less and last 2 weeks no eggs at all. is that normal? I'm scared they decided to start nesting somewhere else

I have 6 hens and 4 rooster that will be getting butchered soon because they are all a** holes!! But that's for a different forum

Wow, three-yolker eggs! I've had two-yolker eggs. Well, I am not surprised that the eggs are smaller that those three-yolkers, but the soft shell eggs mean that the egg is going through the oviduct faster than normal for some reason and not developing the shell properly. Actually the three-yolkers may have been going through the oviduct rather slowly. It is not uncommon for new layers to get into the biological rhythm of laying eggs daily. It sounds like your pullets are having some of that irregularity, but hopefully they will settle into the right schedule soon.

Still no eggs I'm thinking about keeping them in the coop a couple days incase they did find a new nest outside? Or is that just mean?

I would say for sure they found a different place to lay. but keeping them cooped up a couple days could slow there laying also. Remember with new egg layers there is a lot of irregularity. Be patient and keep and eye on them.

Are you putting golf balls in the nesting boxes? Some people use wooden eggs. Just helps show the girls where the eggs are suppose to be.

Well I've left just an egg in their and almost every night I check they have the egg all nested in and fluffed up the hay in the box, so I think at least one is nesting some just not laying any.
