My Black Austrolorps will be 19 weeks old in 2 days and from all the reading I've done I didn't expect the first egg till their 24 to 28 week. It was a good thing I did some cleaning in their coop this morning because I found two eggs laying together. I never raised chickens before so I was expecting medium/large eggs from what I've read. Maybe a pigeon layed these LMBO!!! Any way I feel I should be handing out cigars.

They are small when they first start out, they will get bigger in time.

First egg yesterday and two more today! The speckled brown one is extra little maybe my Cochin?

Congrats on the eggs -- the first ones are small, yes, but they progressively get larger as the hen progresses through her laying cycle. I, for one, love the tiny egg stage, they are just so darn cute!
