First Eggs!!

Congratulations! I just went out and found our first egg from one of our easter eggers, affectionately named "dipshit". She's the only one who has been doing the "squat" for a couple of days now. It actually looked as if she laid it from the roosting bar, so I just added some better perches in front of the nesting boxes to help them get up in there. I imagine it's quite like running to the bathroom after the all-you-can eat buffet, so hopefully it helps.

Well,
The girls are finally coming through with their end of the agreement!! We have 10 hens of various breeds and two roosters, one Barred Rock and one EE.
Currently I don't have nesting boxes in the coop yet. They will be here Saturday, but non-the-less, the girls are producing.:yesss:
I was working on another project around the property (never ending....) and when I moved some pallets back to where they were stored, I discovered an even dozen sitting on the ground. I don't have any idea how long they have been there. So no idea which or how many hens are laying just yet.
It does appear that the roosters are getting a few shots past the goalie, as one of the two eggs we cracked had the tell-tale "bulls-eye" in the yolk.
Pretty eventful day, as right after I brought the eggs in the house, our 8 1/2 month old grand daughter walked across the kitchen with the assist of her walker toy, using it to balance her up.:wee

My goodness! Like Christmas in August over at your house, lol. Now if God would just give us 75-85 degree temps, here in Texas....until the Fall....well, I need to stop before I start cryin :highfive:

Honestly, I can't complain about the temps this past week here in Texas... Start the month of August with High 80's? I'll take it!! The next couple weeks only have two days in the mid 90's, so I think we're doing ok, compared to some years in the recent past.:)

We're about the same here in OH, but holy wow is it humid. We're getting some badly needed rain/ thunder storms. I've been trying to grow grass in a blocked of section of run and it's getting to be a pain to water it every day. I want to reopen it so they have more space, but I'd like it to be a bit higher. Oh, and I guess it would be nice of the stuff in the garden had some water to grow too....
