First eggs!

Hi all! I have a happy post to share this time around instead of the usual.. 'what's possibly wrong with my chicken.'

This past week my Lavender Orpington, Luna, laid her very first eggs! So far she's given me three of the cutest and tiniest eggs that I've ever seen a chicken lay. The first one weighed 34 grams. The second one was 36 grams. And her 3rd one was 39 grams. I'm so proud of her!

Thank you! I've been doing a bit of reading up on first eggs because this is the first time I've had a pullet lay such small eggs. The last couple of times, the girls laid eggs that were pretty much how big their eggs were always going to be. So this is entirely new to me. It's been fun learning new things from my chickens.

Thank you! She's a sweetheart. That's one of the things I've read about Lavender Orpingtons. Some bloodlines just lay tiny eggs.
I'll let you know if hers get any bigger in the future or if they stay the same size.

She's my first Orpington. Sometimes she reminds me of my late Black Australorp, Ariel. So it was really really easy to fall in love with her.
