First ever Goose hatch

Hooray! He was able to finish his hatch on his own and is out and tired. Everything looks good otherwise....pictures to come. Also thinking how long do I wait to assist the others if needed. They have both internally pipped. I may take the eggs out and hand drill a tiny hole (thanks Pete) so they don't run out if O2. How do you guys feel about that. It's been about 24 hrs since they pipped internally.

I just noticed I called it a duckling.....

He's a gosling.

Guess who? Yay! I also decided to put a tiny hole in the air cell of the other 2 eggs before going to bed. That way I know I can sleep and they can breathe. Humidity is up at 65% and temp at 99 and holding. He is lonely in the brooder and was crying so much, so I taped a small mirror to the side of the tub and he settled down. He's active and moving well.

Oh wow, that is great! I am glad you went ahead and put a hole in the other two. Now you know why I am keeping the humidity high on mine this time. Goose eggs are so different than chicken eggs. I had no idea that the goose eggs were so tough until my second bunch had problems. Your new baby is so sweet!

Adorable baby Nurse! Best wishes for the ones your still waiting on.
I just candles my first ever batch of eggs. They're all GROWING!!

Wouldn't you know I'd choose the hardest to start with

. I'd gotten in a hurry and stoled eggs from Momma Goose.
I took 8 and left her with 6. She'd been turning them everyday and covering or uncovering according to the weather.
It's neat to see how they hold them until they thing they have enough.
Now where do I make offerings to the Goose God?
