First experience of sour crop

Often there's an underlying condition that is causing the hen to be lethargic and the system to slow down. Reproductive disorders, worms, infection, etc. are some common conditions that affect the overall health of the hen.

Some good news...her comb is turning red again, and her crop has hardly any liquid in it now. Also, she is eating more and is much less lethargic. I don´t know if it is just the clotramizole that has done the trick, or if the antibiotic helped with some underlying infection, as you suggested. Either way, Lulu seems to be on the mend. Yay! :wee

I've never seen that product, I'll have to check it out.

I'm happy to read she's doing better, keep it up:)

Did Lulu fully recover? I'm having this issue with my girl 🥺

Yes...she is fully recovered, looking great and laying again.

I understand it does look bad (I was really worried for her) but it is treatable.

Best of luck!
You used Vermiend in her water, used VetRx and clotramizole? You also mention an antibiotic? and you fed her canesten cream. You did all these things am I right? I just want to know what steps to take please 🙏 Thank you in advance.

I have always used Vermiend in their water...it won't do anything for sour crop. It is just a worm preventative.

Yes, I used Clotramizole (Canesten is just the brand name. You just feed them the cream (I did it twice a day, approximately 1cm in a small syringe.

I also gave her tetracycline in case the problem was caused by an underlying issue (infection).

Start with the Clotramizole as soon as you can...it is the only thing that will kill the yeast infection.

Good luck...and let me know if you need any other information.
