Hi there. I finally have chickens! My husband and I have turned our little Texas home into a almost self-sufficient homestead. We brought home four little chicks almost five weeks ago and then I just couldn’t help going back for two more a couple weeks later. I so love their little personalities so much. The younger ones are in their own brooder so they don’t get stepped on by the four rambunctious ones. I let them see each other every day so I hope that helps with transitioning them together. We just finished our mobile chicken tractor and I’m considering moving them into the coop at five weeks because those four older ones are little escape artists and seem to plot leaving the brooder every time I lift the wire off the top to feed, water, or clean. They’re pretty feathered out and they do have a safe coop with an option of a heater if they need it. Though it’s not supposed to be real cold any night coming up. I don’t want to put them out too soon but then I think what would they do if raised by momma chicken?
They’re happy chicks. They love to be held. And they are so much fun. I’m thinking one or two may be roosters but my neighbor has three and the sound doesn’t seem to bother anyone. What’s two more? Lol
I love reading everyone’s posts and I’m so happy I found this group.
