Hello everyone! My name is Amanda and I'm new to this forum. I recently got my first ever group of chicks. I ordered 11 chicks from Meyer Hatchery for a small egg laying flock. The chicks turned 1 week old Monday! I wanted a very colorful egg basket so I got one pullet of each of the following breeds:

Easter Egger
Blue Ameraucana
Olive Egger
Barred Plymouth Rock
Welsummer
Speckled Sussex
Silver Laced Wyandotte
Blue Laced Red Wyandotte
Blue Splash Marans
Lavender Orpington
Porcelain Belgian Bearded d'Uccle Bantam

Hoping that they were all sexed correctly and turn out to be females. I'm so very excited about being a new chicken keeper! I love my little peeps. They are growing so quickly!

Thank you in advance for all your knowledge and expertise!

Thank you so much!

Hi! I am new here too. It sounds like you will have a lovely eclectic group.

We just got our first chicks in late February. We got a variety as we weren’t sure what we wanted from the choices available at the local feed store.

We ended up with:
3 Buff Orpingtons (1 turned out to be a rooster)
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes
5 Easter Eggers
1 Gold Sexlink
1 Black Sexlink
And we have since adopted a year old Favaucana from a family in town who said she was too loud and their neighbors were complaining.

We wanted a variety of chicken colors as well as egg colors too. I am thinking that next I want a Maran or a Wellsummer so I can have the darker chocolate colored eggs too

You definitely have to get a Marans or Welsummer! I'm so excited for the dark eggs!
