first freshener question

What's the earliest you've had a first timer start bagging up? My pregnant Nigie has started getting her udder. She shouldn't be due until January 11th. We had a fencing malfunction about a month before I bred her, and it's possible, but unlikely, she got knocked up then. She appeared to have another heat cycle after the unintended male exposure, so I thought I was safe. Everything I've read suggests that bagging up in first fresheners doesn't happen until days before the birth, at most. Her tendons are still firm.

I have had FF start a month to 2 months working on their udders. Its normal and She just might surprise you in December. Been there done that. Fence breeding as I thought this doe wasnt bred and she gave me twins. Yep she should be fine. If you can try to feel to make sure its not hard and hot just to be on the safe side. I check my girls all the time.

I am not sure about first freshers, because it has been so long since I had one. But my second timer was bagged up for a month or more until she kid.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I feel of it everyday. I can't help myself, it's so cool! I know she appreciates my cold hands on her.

To me that sounds about right. Mine start 4-6 weeks before they're due. My timers, though...they start even earlier than that!

My goats seem to bag up a month early, just to put me on edge and make me wonder if the buck was hopping the fences at night.

About six weeks is the "norm" for my first fresheners.

I read that it was about a month before due date. However, I have one that had her first kid this spring, and we didnt even know she was going to have them till she had him!
I am dissapointed with my new goats, we got them from my boss, fullbred boer goats with excellent lines, and he bred them first before bringing them over. Unfortunately, none of them had kids! They should have had them in November. Oh well, I suppose not a big deal considering they were free.

We have a pygmy doe that we got August 2nd, put her in with the male around August 8th. Which would put her doe sometime in January. Well she looks like she swallowed 2 watermelons and has so for about a month now. As for her bagging up, it has started about 2 weeks ago, not real big bags yet, but starting...So she will be bagged up for about 1 1/2 2 months before the babies are born.... Maybe it's triplets...
This is her first time being breed too....
