I'm pretty proud of my homemade incubator! I found a tutorial online, and made one from a light bulb, an old foam cooler, and a thermometer/hydrometer. My husband even took some glass from a thrift store picture frame and set it into the top so I could have a window...
So far, it's went perfectly, aside from having to throw out two eggs: one was either not fertilized at all or died early on, and the other just stopped developing. So there are nine eggs in there right now: two are blue EE/mille fleur leghorn mixes, and the rest are white leghorn/mille fleur leghorn mixes. Here is a pic of the blue EE, Mrs. BlueJeans...
And here's a pic of Sparky, the proud daddy!
Has anybody else ever paired these colors/breeds together before? I have a pretty good idea of what the white/mille fleur Leghorn mixes will look like, but these two are a complete mystery!
Also, one of these babies pipped this morning around 10:15! I cannot wait to see what this baby looks like!!
