Hello! Hoping for some advice. I did a first hatch. Started with 12, 9 made it to lockdown, 7 broke open the egg, 4 fully hatched. One hatched and died straight away and two followed in the next 24 hours. And one is left super heathy and active and is now three days old. (We have ordered 8 more chicks to keep them company).
I ordered the eggs from a few provinces over and were travelling for a while (so not the freshest) would this have anything to do with it?
I would love to try another hatch but it was so sad when they died. Does anyone have any ideas or anything I did wrong? Maybe some advice for next time (when I am ready to try again).

There are at least 20 or 30 different things that can cause a hatch to fail.
Half of them occur up to 4 weeks before setting the eggs. It may be nothing you did.
That said, getting temperature right is imperative and one can't rely on incubator settings or thermometers unless verified accurate.
You can peruse the following to look for clues.
