First hatch help

I just took these pics. You can see her one foot looks different. You can also see in one of the pics her eyes are closed. They have no discharge and their not stuck together she just keeps them closed most of the time. I don't have her legs bandaged together anymore because she was having more problems with them being bandaged.

We had a chick like that that came from mcmurray. Laid down a lot and wouldn't open it's eyes much. It didn't make it, but they were our first chicks so we didn't really know what to do. I hope yours makes it!

Thanks I hope so too. I have a syringe I'm giving her water with. I don't have any electrolytes but if she makes it through the night I'll get some tomorrow.

You might want to repost that pic with a description on the injuries and cures section, I'll bet someone will know what it is and let you know if there is anything you can do for it.

I liked my roos too, but we are in town and one set of neighbors was less than supportive. Everyone else claimed not to care, at least thats what they told us. We have a bunch of very nice tolerant neighbors on our street, which consists of little postwar houses on acre+ lots, but still within the borough line. Unfortunately, our lot backs up to what used to be a field, but was turned into a development. It is the neighbors in back who claimed our roos kept them up all night.

I'd love to see a pic of the salmon faverolles chicks.

My hatch is done with 18 chicks. I had 4 sinkers and 19 floaters tonight. The floaters went back in the bator til tomorrow just for good measure. I didn't see any movement so I don't expect to get anymore live chicks. So it looks like I had good fertile eggs, most of which developed well right to the end, strengthening my belief that I need to concentrate on better humidity control, especially during lockdown. We'll see what I find when I open them up.

Your braver then me I don't think I can open up the unhatched eggs I'm a chicken

I did float the other three tonight and I put them back in the incubator. Here are a few pics of my chicks.Their in an old fish tank so no I didn't get that scenery special for them

Heres a few pics, mine don't have as much nice scenery as yours until I move them outside, they are in the basement under the heatlamp for the time being.

I love the fluffy faces on the favorelles chicks! Some of mine are EE mixes, so I'm hoping to find a few beards and muffs in my mix. Hopefully a few will turn into olive eggers.

I'm pretty sure I have at least 1 Marans X EE, and perhaps a number of EE X Welsummer, though the coloring is making me think I have a bunch of Marans X Welsummer, which should give me some more dark brown egg layers. The dominant roo was a Cuckoo Marans the other an EE. Hens also in the mix are mostly Marans and Welsummer, only one from the EE hen hatched (out of 11: 1 sinker 9 floaters and a chick), Also set set a few eggs from my Australorp, Speckled Sussex (I think they are the cutest ones so far, they have eye make-up), Barred Plymouth Rock, and Dominique. Can't tell the difference yet between most of them.

Well I had to cull my little chick today

She was getting worse every day. It was very hard but knew it was the right thing to do. Now I'm trying to get up the courage to go bury her.

Aww, I'm sorry.

I lost my smallest one too. It was not growing at all, and was having trouble with pasty butt, I was almost relieved this morning when my husband told me it didn't make it, it meant I didn't have to make the decision. I had a runt last year that made it, but she was never particularly well. I ended up having to cull her later anyway. She was always on the bottom of the pecking order, and always seemed worried instead of enjoying her chickeness. Its hard, but for the best, to cull a struggling chick.

ETA I just realized you can see the runt of this litter in the picture I posted above.
