This incubator worked so well that I just had to join BYC to post about it. I have learned so much from reading here for the past four years, Thanks!

We had 13 fertile eggs on day 10 and 12 of those have hatched out. This is our first time using an incubator and it was so easy. We did not have a hygrometer, just filled one channel 3/4 full of water as directed for the first 18 days. Then we completely filled both channels for the last few days. We kept the temp around 99.5. This was the Brinsea Octogon 20 Eco model without the turner. We just turned it when we thought of it, probably six times a day.

The blue/black Orpington chicks are all healthy and happy under one of our hens that hatched out five chicks on the same schedule.

man, the more i read about that incubator the more i want one. i have a homemade igloo bator now. i have hatched guinea eggs (5 out of 12) and goose eggs(1 out of 12). i have some duck eggs that are from my stock. i am pretty sure i had low numbers because the other eggs were shipped. if i get low numbers on this hatch, i am going to buy a brinsea!
