First hatch is starting this week!

$2 a dozen is a fantastic price! The nearest farm that I can find that sells the kind of eggs I want is a 2 hour drive so I ended up paying WAY too much for eggs on ebay.

Anyway, picking up fresh fertile eggs on a farm near you should up your hatch rate tremendously. Shipped eggs just don't do as well as local ones that haven't been bounced around in the mail

Peacocks sound like fun too.

i know i was looking online at web sites but they were all so pricey but then tried the farm and garden section of Craigs List and Walla cheap eggs!!
its an hour and a half drive from us but we will be near there anyway tomorrow so we decided to bump the hatch up a week and save on the gas lol
i was thrilled about the idea of hatching a peacock but my DH just looked at me and said"Honey, what in the world are you gong to do with a peacock!"
i have to admit the man has a point

Off to bed now, but looking forward to what tomorrow will bring...

Good morning incubating/hatching buddies.

I woke to find no post office tracking updates in my inbox so that means my eggs are probably not arriving today. Another day of waiting for me...

Last night, when I finally dragged myself to bed, I just stopped to check on the kids once. My DS was not in his room. He had camped out next to the incubator so he could monitor the temperature fluctuations.

It is so fun to have kids as excited about hatching as I am.

We also moved my broody hen last night, this morning she appears to be settled in well on her wooden eggs. She has to wait another day for the real eggs too. She's been brooding on those wooden eggs for 9 days now. I really hope she can make it all the way to hatch.

I never get tired of looking at them.... I've been waiting to candle to see if ANY of my eggs are good. I'm trying to wait until day 7 but after reading this I just might not be able to wait any longer....
