Candled eggs under buff oprpington hen. One was solid, full of chick I suppose, one was swimming, totally diff stage of development. Another was pipping and long story short, I brought it in to let it finish in the bottom of my bator.

First-is it normal to have a hen with eggs in diff stages of development? Will she finish to the last egg or do I need to bring it in?

Second-hubby giving me a hard time...how long does it take for it to dry off?

Just a few of my questions...

Different stages of egg development occur regularly with my broodies, that's primarily b/c the other hens will sit on the broody to lay, thus adding another egg to her brood. Given that, the eggs usually take 2-3 days to hatch out, after that the hen will abandon the rest to mother those that did hatch and are moving enough to want to be out of the nest.
Time to dry off...hmmm, never timed it, but a few hours under mama = full fluff.
Don't know if that helps, but those are my experiences
