First hatch of 09 Pictures added

If I had not just finished hatching my own box full of chicks I would be so jealous of you!

I'm down to only one egg that hasn't hatched. A BLRW & a Blue Wyandotte hatched. The one remaining egg isn't pipped either. The one that has the very rough navel is hanging in there. It's dried up some, but it's got a ways to go. I hope I don't have to cull her.

The hens are very sweet and calm and the roos have been too so far. They're smaller than the orps...but a little larger than the blue rocks are. I hatched them out last spring so I suppose the roos could get nasty yet, but they sure haven't shown any signs of it yet.

Congrats on a terrific hatch Katy!

The chicks are adorable and those splash and blue wyandottes are gorgeous.

Heads up all, they do sell "releasable zip ties", however i don't know what sizes and colors are available in them. You will have to do a search on them, but if they have them in the smaller size you wont have to be trying to cut them off and you may be able to reuse them for chicks again. i know you would trim them down after they are put on the chicks but if you leave enough extra on them you could surely reuse them again..
