First hatch problems? How much do I help?

I wonder what happened? By your description the temp in the brooder is Ok. So sorry to hear about that. This is why old farmers are tough old coots!!

With your brooder being 2`x4`it sounds like they would have had plenty of space to get away even if they were too hot under the light. I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. Maybe if you post on the emergency, disease, injury thread someone will have an answer for you. I your remaining chicks pull through.

I am afraid that they have all died. The last two to go were the oldest and biggest ones. I am not sure what happened but I will post on the disease/injury thread.

Sounds an awful lot like what happened to my hatch of 7. One died in the incubator, the rest seemed fine in the brooder. Then they kicked the bucket until only 3 are left. They've made it for a week and look healthy, so I'm luckier than you. I'm going to follow your story on the disease/injury thread. Maybe I'll learn what I did wrong, too.
