First hatch

A couple months ago, a man gave my husband some chickens. Among them were two Cornish: a red laced hen and a white rooster. We decided we wanted more of them, so we helped our 3rd grade (homeschooled) son build an incubator from a foam box used to transport meds to a farmer's co-op. We created a turner out of an egg carton and pvc pipe. We put in 5 eggs on Aug 17, and one each on the 18th and 19th. All seven hatched and are doing great!

We've learned SO SO much on BYC!! We are definitely hooked!

That's great. Have lots of fun with your chickens and enjoy the with your son some things about them, I think he'll appreciate it later on.
