First i've seen of this

I have a very young Mallard duckling that had been abandoned. He is starting loosing his fuzz, It is on both sides of his body, under wings, on each side his tail and each cheek. I've rubbed him down with DE twice. I don't see any lice or mites. Anyone have any ideas?

He may have been burned or injured. He may have been abandoned due to a disease or deformity.
