I remember is was said that something like 40% of Chile's GDP comes from mining. Their gov't really needed to demostrate they care about the miners. Someone on the American drilling crew said money had been no object, they got every piece of equipment they requested.

Evidently these guys were on a lunch break in the safe room when the landslide collapsed the mine, otherwise they would be dead.

I was actually having trouble sleeping as I was dealing with the stress of some personal issues when I decided to watch the coverage, flipping back between FOX and CNN. This whole event was indeed impressive and put my little issues into perspective.....

I was only convinced that it was all done when the last rescue worker arrived at the top. 39 men were brought to the surface. It is a reason to celebrate. For once the news very was good. It is truly remarkable that all these people came together, and that they worked as a team to make it happen.
