First new paintings of 2011 !!! chickhen ART added

HI, Ive been working with some pastels lately, these are pastel pencil, chalk, charcoal, and graphite
on strathmore 500 archival papers.

the first one is 3 mares that I bred, raised and ultimately sold as a family a couple years ago.
the buyers told me they lost the baby filly last year due to a freak accident, so I did this
portrait for her as a gift.

A friend of mine had to put their elderly family dog to sleep a week or so ago, so I did
this portrait of the grand old gal. She is dearly missed.

Hopefully I will have some chicken art for you enthusiasts soon, just gotta clear
the easel!

Thank you, yes they were devastated, I think they were afraid to tell me
for a long time.

but, things happen, there is just nothing we can do
about it some times.

what a fantastic gift you gave her. We have an ageing yorkie and I just made a plaster cast of her foot. I dont have any artistic talent for drawing or painting, your work is nice.

Beautiful work! I love working with pastels, however, I have been unable to do any painting for the last few years. It is too much effort with little children around.

I really miss it.

BEAUTIFUL job!! (all of them) The filly story is very sad, and I'm sure they loved the painting.
