First night in the coop QUESTION

I've been leaving my 5 barred rocks (going on 5 weeks old) in their run
during the day and bringing them back inside the house at night. However,
tonight I decided to let them start staying the night in their coop which is connected
to the run. I put each of them from their run into the coop and closed the coop door.
They were all chirping loudly. Understandable. After some freaking out, flying up against
the walls and door.... they all are now huddled in a corner of the coop.... like a big ball of
feathers. All standing up... like they keep pushing up against each other into the corner.
Does this all sound typical for a first night in the coop? Thanks

That does sound pretty typical. Lots of people wonder when they will stop sleeping in the chicken pile and use the roosts. They will eventually calm down and it shouldn't take them too long to get used to the new coop.

Yep, sounds normal to me.

It's normal, I think they feel more safe that way. That's the way my younger ones acted when I put them in the coop.

Mine are 4 weeks old and I am ready to move them out by the end of the week!

mine are all going on 7-11 weeks old and they still 'huddle" at night... I go peek on them every so often after dark and they are all in the same spot every night ...ALL 12 OF THEM lol
