First night in the new coop - please help!

my girls get treats every day...I love them so..they will be free ranging during the weekends, the have an acre fenced in to roam around..but only when I can supervise...I don't wont some stinking hawk carrying one of them off..that is the scariest thing.

So glad to hear your babies slept the night. Yes that is a good idea to put them in their brooder in the coop until they get used to it.

That's what I am going to do. Still haven't figured out how to section off part of the carriage house. Any suggestions?

I remember as a young girl on my parents' farm I would go to the chicken coup and sit with the chickens when I felt stressed from school, etc. It woukd make me feel so much better. I found it very relaxing.

I had to section of part of my coop. Added a set of 6 polish to my 6 rir's and 2 Plymouth rock. I just tapped in some nails, strung some temporary chicken wire and put them in . At night I took down the wire and they all went into the nesting area. Every morning, I went out and started all over. this took about a week and a half and everyone was acclimated and no more need for the separation any longer, everyone is getting along just fine.

It's night 3 for my hens in their coop. First night the top dog pecked at the twoittle chickies. I have 5 total . They were 3 and 2.... The are older OEGB, Golden sebright x2...and two chicks of mixed breed... Cochin and something...these are abt 6 weeks old and the older 3 are about 14 weeks... Night 3 and all snow quiet and well.. The five are all on the roost now..
