First night jitters.

They have lots of shade.
But I don't want them to be hungry or thirsty either.
I figured Mother Nature would eventually kick in & they would find the ground & start looking for food.

Congratulations on your new flock of feathered friends. It takes a bit of time for them to adjust to new things
This...

Also, your bosses flock would have eventually merged. When I introduce new chickens (even new chicks) they don't "merge" with the older chickens.
Ive had some chickens take 9 months to become a unified flock, and some that took about 6.
You got lucky. Had he waited, they probably would have gotten along. They just have to establish their "pecking order".

Congratulations! I bet they'll be much happier at your place without your bosses 'bullies' around. I'm also betting they'll settle in pretty quick & be roosting in no time. Throw them some snacks & soon they'll running toward you when they see you.

Thanks everyone!
My morning was probably the most stressful I've had in ages. All over 3 CHICKENS.
What has gotten into me?
I messaged my neighbor to go see if they had left the coop before lunch.
Nope. Still in the coop. I'm sure hungry & thirsty.
He went & looked again after lunch & BOOM, all 3 were in the run scratching the ground & drinking from my 5 gallon horizontal water nipples, which they've never done until today.
At my bosses, it was an open water trough.
My heart was instantly relieved to know they had finally left the coop area & was looking for goodies outside.
When did I become so soft? Geees.

He then opened the side door (the clean out door) & found these jewels (see pic)!
They didn't quiet make it to the nesting crates, but I'll take em.

That's awesome!
