First pip ever!

I just did my first hatch too. 5 out of 6 hatched. It was soo exciting. They do nothing if you watch, leave to get a drink and their out! We only saw two out of three actually come out. Too bad we sent the roo to dinner or I wouldn't be able to put the bator away

I share your excitement! Right before I went to bed, I had a barred buff cochin who had pipped earlier today halfway out with the shell still stuck to it's bottom. Just a little bit later, it was all out and cozying under mama for the night. Another egg under the mama was peeping. No pips yet, but obviously barred buff will hopefully soon have company. I had one chick that didn't make it yesterday. Found it outside it's egg next to mama. Not sure what happened. Was disappointed because it was a barred cochin bantam--which I love. Still have about 10 more eggs waiting. With fingers crossed and a prayer, hopefully we'll soon have more cute little fuzzballs joining us--and hope ya'll do too!

The other peeping egg has pipped. Heard more peeping. It's so hard to wait, but hopefully the barred buff will be joined by a mille fleur bantam chick soon. Hope the other eggs aren't duds!! I candled them earlier, and they seem to look like they should be good ones--although I had to pitch some in the batch a few days ago because they were rotten. What a smell!! Glad they didn't leak all over my other eggs. Anyone else have new arrivals?

Both the eggs have now pipped, and they seem to have peep offs at times with each other lol. Tonight at 1:30am will be 21 days so, we shall see what happens.... Had a crazy humidity drop last night, but I added some hot water to the socks I have in there (no sponges were available lol) and now the humidity went back up. From what I can see of the membrane it looks pretty good and not shrink wrapped, and I'll see the first pipped peep poking it's little beak out. Ahhhh... I can't wait to see if they both make it all the way to hatch and also what color they end up being. Also, how bad is it that I'm already trying to decide what eggs I try to hatch next? lol

Seven--how can you handle the excitement!! The pip is getting bigger--slowly but surely. Still hear some hearty peeping. I need to stop checking though. My hand has tons of little marks from where the broody cochin whopped me but good!! Most drew blood. I keep forgetting to put some gloves on. I guess I need to leave well enough alone and just wait until the chicks done hatched all the way. Patience is a virtue--and that cochin isn't letting anyone get close. She'll make a great mama!!

theres another one of us hatching this week. Mine are due Wed but today i think it is starting. Some egg shell is off one of the eggs and the membrane has a tiny slit in it. I was not expecting this for three more days. come on little ones be strong. I have dellies, rocks and one orp in the mix. Gloria Jean

Isn't it fun when they come early when we aren't expecting them? I lifted a setting silkie a couple months ago, and was pleasantly surprised when a chick popped out from under her wing.

The barred buff now has a mille fleur bantam friend keeping it company under mama. The pip had just widened last night, then the shell must have finally come off recently because the chick hadn't fluffed out yet. I hope I join you and others this week in hatching out more. The gals are still sitting on about nine eggs. Have one more barred buff cochin I'm really hoping will make it!! They are so pretty.
