First quail eggs. Why is one kinda blue?

First eggs from my quails. Why is the one a weird color?

Oh I didn't order this kind of quail. I ordered just regular white quail. That's interesting. I have to go look this up.

Hey! I used to have conturnix quail. They would always lay off colored eggs especially at the beginning of laying. Sometimes I would get all white eggs.

Oh ok so it's normal for these Coturnix to lay weird color eggs. When I ordered eggs to hatch they all looked the same.

They had probably been laying for a while. I was getting all colored eggs at the beginning brown, white and blue.

Ok that's good to know. My neighbor has 2 females from my hatch and they laid the standard colored egg from day 1 so this is the first weird egg. It should straighten out over time.

It's genetic. It's desirable by many people.

The one on top has a bit of extra bloom on it. If you get one with a lot of bloom, it will actually look purple. Celadon eggs do not look like that.
