First quilt block swap 2016

Ladies I made a Prairie flower, the finished size is 13 1/2 ", It went together very easily and quickly, This is just to see what the colors would look like, this may be in the bright category, unless you like these colors, but you are the artist as long as the petal are of some sort of green, etc.

So do we want prints for the petals? what about the center color

Looks really good. Thank you for making a sample block. I am definitely a visual person.

I am not big on pink but I hope there will be many other colors also. Can we use something else also for the colored fabrics besides tone on tone? I was hoping to use maybe some florals as I have a very large box of those and they seem more visually interesting to me then tone on tone.

I like the yellow you used in the center and think it would be nice to have a similar shade in all blocks as the center to help tie it together along with the white back ground.

Very nice blocks and the colors do look good together. How many blocks do you see us doing? What size quilt do you think it would make?

You know as long as we do the white on white and the yellow center, and green of some type for the leaves, that will tie all of our block together, make it your block with the colors you like, use what ever you want, that is why I made this block,

20 blocks sashed with a border will make about a 74x89 inch quilt, you can get a good look at the link

so if you want to do solids do solids, except for the white on white, as I found if the fabric is not in the same color way it is a challenge to find patterns that compliment each other.

anyone with any ideas?

Hi Ladies, sorry to be so quiet but I have been following all the chatter. I'm a bit confused about the next swap. Are there two sets of instructions? I agree that it would be nice to try and get similar yellows. So far we've tended towards lemon yellows. What if we go for a richer egg yolk yellow? Seems fitting since this is BYC!

. I think we could use florals providing they are fresh, not dirty browns.

I tried sending you an email today Kats. It was a link to today's The Quilt Show daily blog which has a great pattern of a chicken, eggs etc called 'Ester the Easter Chicken'. I was going to suggest that you put it on this site for everyone to see. I just can't get the site to work for me like this anymore. I also can click on any sites that anyone else puts up and go straight to them. I have to write them out. Well, my email to you came back to me. I seem to have 3 email addresses for you. I had an appointment at the doctors surgery so forgot about it I til I was reading BYC.

I also have a newly decorated lounge, new posh carpet ( shoes banned), new blinds, new settees! Ready for all your visits hey! We've had tons of rain in the last few days. Our dykes, drains and rivers are full. The water table is so high that my garden is just a puddle. I think it's fairly local and is probably made worse because, although we are well organised to drain land since we are at sea level, we also are the route of water flowing from the plains of York, in another huge county north of us. So we have more than our own water!

I haven't been to any of the sewing groups so far this year, not even the Sitting Ducks, as I have had a reoccurring virus which has really knocked me out. Haven't seen anyone either. I think I may be suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I just haven't been seeing much.

No not two directions, just one is the instructions and one I think just show the block, Here is Ester, is this the right one?
