A little about my farm, we are a goat farm mainly meat & dairy goats in NE Indiana. We also have around 100 laying hens and roosters most your common breeds and barnyard mixes. We also have a few bantams. But for the last 6 weeks these CornX are becoming my new favorite breed to watch grow. They grow so fast!! Hope to get to know everyone on here and learn a lot more about the meat side of poultry!!

Welcome to the Bar and Grill

Nice looking birds ,3 ages at once makes you a pro!

Do you free range them? When do you plan to process, age and weight.

It is a milestone day here, Bert is going to bed for the first time since he became a bathroom chicken without a bandage or wrap on his foot!

The oldest are 6 weeks today and are avg 4 pounds 11 of them. They get processed at 8 weeks hoping to be around 6-7 live weight.
Then 25 each of 2 week olds (at over 1 pound now) and 4 day olds! I really am liking this breed. At the end of the month I will be getting 3 dozen hatching American bresse eggs. Can't wait to hatch those out!

Good looking birds you have there, Raisinemright! Welcome!

Another day of no issues with my birds. So another hip-hip-horray! I've been processing strawberries into sauce and jam as my berry beds are going crazy right now. I threw my chickens a bunch of strawberry scraps, which my layers think is a fantastic treat. My meaties, however, were a bit nonplussed. A few took some polite bites, but the others ran back to their feeding trough and honked at me. Silly birds.

I had to correct my post. my older birds are 6 weeks not 4 lol

If I might make a suggestion. pick out a couple of the smallest birds and raise them slowly on lower protein, at around 12-13 week the females will dress out over 8 lbs and the males will go over 11, they make fantastic roasters at that size, better than turkeys in my mind.

Welcome Raisinemright!! U have some good looking birds!!!!

My broodies chicks r a week old!! I am going with 4 girls and a boy. U might think I'm crazy since I think I got almost all girls but the OEs r much more developed than the other cross chick. But we will see in 2-3 weeks.

Glad the egg biz is going good Jessica!!

Ralph what do u mean by Bert is finally going to bed??

MM how r those turkey eggs doing??

Well, I let him sleep between the DW and me now, didn't you know? We got him a diaper...

Bed as in sleep in his box in the bathroom. I might move him outside for good tomorrow.

I put 9 oops 8 turkey eggs I threw one out and 5 CL eggs in the hatcher. Hoping for the best the turkey eggs looked good ( al but one questionable) The CL eggs I just cannot tell..

Lol Ralph u r funny. Good luck on the eggs!!

Thanks..

I have one turkey egg with a hole the size of an eraser in it this morning. MM I need to thank you, I knew our eggs were on the same time schedule and I was not going to but them into the hatcher until this afternoon. When you said you put yours in lock down I decided I needed too. so'''THANKS".

I am hoping an early pip is a good sign, I know this may sound weird but I think an early hatch is better than a late hatch. I seem to get more hatched birds and more live.
